If you have ever been to Western Washington then you know the weather is always unpredictable and there is no such thing as flat terrain. But the weather was great and the course couldn’t have had a better design for Seattle’s first Rock and Roll Marathon. With blue skies, mid 50 degree temperature, and a flat (or almost down hill) course there couldn’t have been better running in Seattle.
This could be the best half marathon course ever designed. Running along the river in Tukwila, next to Seattle’s new light rail system in the Rainier District, down to Seward park, running in the shade of the trees that line beautiful Lake Washington, marching to the beat of the band at the far end of the I-90 tunnel, and finally finishing in the Emerald City!

Excellence had a great turn out for the Seattle Rock and Roll Half marathon. For member’s our team came out, with one first time half marathon runner. Team members Kirsten Nesholm, Monica Alvarez, Jaiwen Shi, and trainer Elias Roberts all ran there best.
Way to Go!!!!

Excellence Fitness put on the “Witness the Fitness” weight loss and body composition challenge for the month of January. This was a fun way to keep people focused on their New Years Eve resolutions. All of the clients participated and total weight loss equaled more than 45lb.s of fat loss in one month! Not bad for a training studio!

The winner of the of the weight loss category was Brian Mazza! He lost 13lb in one month! He has been working out with personal trainer and strength specialist Byron Dondoyano 3 times a week. Together they focus on power lifting and sports performance drills to improve his soccer ability. Brian works out hard and always spends an extra 30 minutes to an hour doing cardio. All of this hard work gave back a little extra when he walked away with $150.oo gift certificate to “Sound Sports” (one of Seattle’s premier running and sports stores), $50.oo to “City Hardware”, and a “Excellence Health and Fitness” Dry Fit shirt! Way to follow through Brian, keep up the good work!

We also had and great success story with our “Body Composition Change” category. Monica Alvarez changed her body composition by 5% in one month! She has been working hard with personal trainer Elias Roberts. Monica works out 1-2 times a week at Excellence Health and Fitness, she is running every other day, and is focused on her nutritional habits. Not only has she lost weight but has also increased her muscle mass and feel more energetic than ever. Friends on Monica have noticed a huge difference and are so proud of her success, as are we here at Excellence. Monica’s hard work earned her a $150.oo gift certificate to “Sound Sports” (one of Seattle’s premier running and sports stores), $50.oo to “Meant to Be Foods” (Health and Wholesome Foods Store located in Redmond), and a “Excellence Health and Fitness” Dry Fit shirt!
